How does TIQ knows in which matter I am working on?
TIQ Time integrates with various Document Management Systems (DMS) commonly used by law firms. When you perform a task — such as working on a document, attending a meeting, or sending an email — and associate it with a Client/Matter in your DMS, TIQ will likely match the corresponding suggestion to that matter.
Additionally, TIQ offers other ways to enhance matter-matching accuracy. These features need to be activated per account:
1. Matter Matching Pattern
- TIQ can detect a matter code in a file’s path, name, or the folder where it is stored.
- TIQ can recognize a matter code in an email’s subject or body (first 50 characters) or any readable field of a calendar invite, provided it is referenced in the email or meeting.
For activating this feature, a matter number pattern used by a law firm has to be provided - e.g. XXXX-XX-XX all digits, or XXXX-XX-VV digits and characters etc.
2. Matching by Domain (from Email Recipients/Senders)
If an email is not initially matched but you manually confirm it as belonging to a specific matter—let’s say "Example Matter 1"—TIQ will automatically suggest the same matter for future emails from the same sender. This automation helps streamline timekeeping and ensures accurate matter tracking with minimal manual input.
